2023 Ozawa International Chamber Music Academy Okushiga

Audition Information

Since we first started teaching chamber music performance in Okushiga Kogen, Nagano, more than 26 years has passed, and an intensive chamber music seminar will be held this summer as well, along with three concerts in Okushiga and in Tokyo. At this audition, we would like to see young talented musicians who want to learn chamber music at the Ozawa International Chamber Music Academy Okushiga.

Jul. 20 Arrival in Japan
Jul. 21 Travel from Tokyo to Okushiga
Jul. 22-29 Seminar in Okushiga, Nagano, Japan
Jul. 30 Concert at The Music Hall, Okushiga
Jul. 31 Concert at Yamanouchi Junior High School, then travel to Tokyo
Aug. 1 Concert at Kioi Hall, Tokyo
Aug. 2 Departure from Tokyo

◉Tuition and other expenses for the seminar

Tuition is free.
The Academy covers necessary expenses such as one round-trip economy airfare to/from Tokyo, local transportation in Japan, accommodations and meals during the period.
However expenses for attending the audition is on your own.

◉Qualification Requirements

Violin, Viola and Cello players between the ages of 16 and 29 as of April 1, 2023.

*Starting time for applicants will be informed separately.

◉Audition Repertoire

Violin ① J.S. Bach: Choose a Slow movements from Violin Solo sonatas or partitas. (Chaconne is excluded.)
      
② Mozart: first and second movement of a concerto with cadenza
Viola ① One slow movement of J.S. Bach’s solo sonatas, partitas or suites.
② Select one from below
1. Hoffmeister: Viola Concerto 1st and 2nd mov. *with cadenza
2. Free choice program
Cello ① J.S. Bach: Choose one from Solo suites Sarabande from No.1,2,3,4,6 and Allemande from No.6

② The 1st & 2nd movement of a concerto selected from:
Haydn: Cello Concerto No. 1 in C *with cadenza
Haydn: Cello Concerto No. 2, in D *with cadenza
